My primary objective is to change the way we approach cancer and how we live, maximising fulfilment, richness of experience and longevity. I hope that by undertaking the expedition we will inspire other CanLivers and their families to make changes to live a richer and more active life.

I believe being active can make a huge difference so I have chosen to support the following charities for the duration of my expedition: Trekstock and 5K Your Way, along with Teenage Cancer Trust and CLIC Sargent who have given me amazing support.  For the second leg, from Dover to Chișinău, Moldova, I have chosen to support World Child Cancer as a regional charity partner – see below for information about this amazing organisation and the work it does.

All donations will be used to support these charities, divided equally.  Please donate on my VirginMoneyGiving page and help us reach our goals.  Just click on the Bristol2Beijing logo below:”

Trekstock gets young adults in their 20s and 30s moving again physically, socially and psychologically after cancer has stopped them in their tracks.

5k Your Way, Move Against Cancer provided by MOVE charity is a community-based initiative to encourage those living with and beyond cancer, families, friends and those working in cancer services to walk, jog, run, cheer or volunteer at a local 5k Your Way parkrun event on the last Saturday of every month.

Around seven young people aged between 13 and 24 are diagnosed with cancer every day in the UK. They need expert treatment and support from the moment they hear the word ‘cancer.’ We’re the only charity dedicated to making this happen.

CLIC Sargent fights tirelessly to stop cancer destroying young lives. We know everyone is different, so we work hard to help when each child and young person needs it most.

Regional partner charity

World Child Cancer is an established leader in creating a world where every child with cancer has equal access to the best treatment and care.  Funds raised during the European tour will support training and education of healthcare professionals that are making a difference for children with cancer in Kosovo, the poorest country that Luke and Chris expect to visit on their way to Istanbul.
