Luke has completed the expedition, cycling 30,000km!
Luke started his expedition in January 2020 in Bristol. Since then he has been joined on the tandem by 817 people, 25 of them CanLivers*, and has raised over £125,000 for charities in the UK and some of the countries he has cycled through.
Having found it impossible to cross from the eastern border of India into China to reach Beijing, Luke returned to London and cycled the remaining 3,300km he would have cycled in China on a stationary “turbo trainer” at various locations in and around London, where he was joined by many people and featured on several TV and radio shows.
On June 19th 2022 Luke was welcomed “back home” to Bristol Grammar School - the original start point of the expedition - for a celebratory finish.
Luke has been awarded a “Points of Light” award by the Prime Minister’s Office
Luke has been recognised by the UK government for the CanLive message and the funds raised for our wonderful charities. Click here to read the citation!

Where on earth is Luke?
Luke has now completed the expedition, cycling the 30,000km distance from Bristol to Beijing over 2.5 years. You can see the full route Luke took in the map below. The element in China is the route Luke would have taken had he been able to get into the country - instead he cycled the same distance in London on a stationary turbo trainer.
